PERFORMANCE TRAINING WITH DIS

Training* with DIS includes membership in the International Choreographers Association (ICA) which is an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Dance division club.  We believe partnering with the AAU assists us in ensuring dance is not only recognized as a sport but treat as one.

Together the Showmanship Dance Class and the DIS/ICA Membership offer your artist the opportunity to receive the training needed to present their work and be challenged through healthy engagement with others who are building their craft for global engagement (most simply call this, healthy competition).

At DIS we pride ourselves on requiring artists to be themselves.  This means every artist is not the same, therefore not all seek to be in the limelight.  Our classes are designed to preserve, as much as possible, the enjoyment of art in a community without the need for mass exposure.

In life, artists go in different directions.  Just because an artist enjoys dance doesn't mean they want to be on stage in front of hundreds. For the artist not ready or interested in performing in front of audiences, our Drop-In classes are designed for them.  However, the Drop-In classes listed below are a component of our training program. For those who are exploring the rigor of performing in front of an audience, our Performance Training is where their focus needs to be.

The Showmanship Class-2 includes two classes: 1 hour of performance training and a Drop-In class for the age range of the artist in training. Additional practices may be required for special performances.  Performance attire is not included in class costs.

Please ask about our additional tracks coming soon or visit our dance page.

*Training is taken very seriously at DIS.  Our bodies have to last us far beyond our ability to just dance.  This is why we have developed the following statement regarding insurance and participation in all dance activities with DIS.

If you are purchasing a plan or membership that includes the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), coverage is provided for properly registered athletes or non-athletes who are injured during an AAU licensed event, supervised practice or while participating in the Extended Coverage (AB) membership program. Coverage is excess medical and becomes primary if there is no other coverage available. For more details on AAU's insurance program visit, https://aausports.org/Insurance. If you are not purchasing a plan or membership that includes AAU, Davis Inspiration Studios does not carry medical insurance for its students. It is required that all dance students be covered by their own family insurance policies and if injury occurs it is understood that the student’s own policy is your only source of reimbursement.

Have you taken a DIS class?

We are always in need of studio time consistent with traditional peak hours for dance studios. Because we are mobile, we are subjected to off- peak hours. For these reasons, in the event we are able to obtain studio time closer to peak hours, class times may be adjusted.  If your class time or location changes, we will notify you at least 48 hours in advance.
*These classes do not require a commitment unless it is taken with a Showmanship class. **These classes require a commitment in addition to a drop in class.
