Training with DIS means membership in the International Choreographers Association (ICA), a dance club participating in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Dance Division. We believe partnering with AAU assists us in ensuring dance is not only recognized as a sport but treated as one.

Amateur Athletic Union
One of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, multi-sport event organizations in the world. AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. The AAU philosophy of “Sports For All, Forever” is now shared by nearly 700,000 members and 150,000 volunteers across 41 sports programs and 55 U.S. districts.

FAQ
If I do not take dance classes at DIS can I become a member of ICA?
Yes. AAU Dance is does not have many dance clubs. For that reason we encourage everyone to take advantage of the competition we offer to become a better dancer. Solo performers and teams can participate and compete for both recreation and professional development.
What if I don't want to compete and just want to take a class.
The annual $25 studio fee includes your AAU membership. If you choose not to compete in the varied competitive opportunities throughout the year that is ok. There is no requirement to compete. You are still insured as an athlete while participating in our dance programs.
How long does my insurance coverage last?
Coverage must be renewed annually and is valid for one year.
Is there an age limit on who can participate or compete?
We host competitions for all ages from 3-adult. Everyone who dances with us can compete.
